After hearing about the settlement of their famous copyright infringement dispute, sneakerheads are again eying Skechers and Nike, their favored competitors. Nonetheless, looking at the market, the rivalry between these two entities is intense, complicating the decision-making process. Thus, which brand, Skechers or Nike, should one opt for?
Both Nike and Skechers have an extensive history of battling in the realm of footwear and are famous for it. That said, Nike consistently maintains a slight advantage due to its durability and quality, while Skechers takes the runner-up position for its variety and coziness. Moreover, while holding the leading spot, Nike remains the most budget-friendly choice.
However, there are instances in which one brand surpasses the other. Let’s delve into those areas.
Skechers Vs. Nike- Feature Comparison
In 1992, Robert Greenberg introduced Skechers to the world, originating from the United States when Nike was the leading brand in men’s sports. Indeed, this rivalry dates back quite some time! Naturally, Nike has a long history, founded in 1964 by Bill Bowerman, who owned Blue Ribbon Sports and was a collegiate athletic and track and field mentor.

Nike Monarch Vs. Skechers Go Walk
Skechers Go Walk is ideal for walking, as the name implies. I’ve even read reviews about individuals walking 50 miles in it. In comparison, it takes an hour or so to travel 5 miles on the Nike Monarch. So, for walking, I suggest Skechers Go Walk.
Skechers Go Walk is a one-of-a-kind design that performs like an orthopedic but does not appear like one. The upper is not lightweight, but it meshes with big panels and is thus breathable. It also has thick padding around the collar, so there are no hotspots while walking and the soles are comfortable. However, they are not very good at fitting in.
Comparatively, Nike Monarch is slightly bulkier than Skechers Go Walk.
Nike Monarch | Skechers Go Walk
Price | $75. | $47 to $150. |
Weight | 8.1 oz (250 g) to 12.3 oz (350 grams). | Around 7+ oz. |
Pros | The Upper is cushioned, soft, and comfortable, as well as broad. | A large toe-box. Excellent padding. Skechers Arch Fit. |
Cons | It does not function like a high-performance basketball shoe. Lockdown is not beneficial to athletic motions. There isn’t much bounce. | Not accurate to size. Not ideal for jogging. There is very little foot support. |
Skechers Gorun Ride 7 Vs. Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 39
Both Skechers Gorun Ride 7 and Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 39 are my two favorite pairs of athletic shoes. Why? Because I adore their flexibility, ease, and cushioning. However, the Skechers Gorun Ride 7 has a very breathable knit fabric with a cool 3D-printed pair of overlays. In addition, the FLIGHT GEN midsole and 6 mm heel-toe drop provide optimum impact response and protection. Moreover, despite its durability, the midsole has a plush feel that is ideal for steady running.
In comparison, the Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 39 weighs nearly the same as the Skechers Gorun Ride 7. As a result, both check the lightweight option. However, Air Zoom Pegasus 39 is slightly more costly than Gorun Ride 7. So, in terms of cost-effectiveness, Gorun ride 7 gets the lead.
Yes, Zoom Pegasus has a breathable knit fabric like Skechers, but with the Flywire cables the fabric is wrapped with an additional option of a slip-on. And this is what gives the Nike Zoom Pegasus its unique traction. It can easily manage long distances while still providing the same effortless cushioning and responsiveness.
So, I’d say the price is the primary differentiator, and GoRun Ride 7 will take the lead in this fight. They are also lighter than Pegasus. However, if you do not hit with your forefoot, you will notice that the heel is less curvy at the bevel, which may be uncomfortable at times.
Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 39 | Skechers Gorun Ride 7
Price | $130 | US $60-$90+ |
Weight | 261 gms/ 9.2 oz. | 9.3 oz. |
Pros | Improved reliability. Extremely padded. Wide toe box. Easy slip-oncomfortable journey and wear. Excellent traction and changes. | The Wet-surface grip is excellent. Smooth interiors. Cost-effective. Cushioned. Lightweight |
Cons | Fits close to size. There isn’t much gleaming. The mouth flap is narrow. | Widths are currently unavailable. The foot bevel’s orientation is incorrect. |
Nike Air Max 270 Vs. Skechers Arch Fit
Both models are highly popular among the two brands and have been worn for many years. But let’s commence with the heels. The Nike Air Max 270 has a massive 32mm heel that is noticeable at a 270-degree angle. What’s more, one of the Air Max technology capsules is thicker and has a dual-density foam sole, providing superb cushioning and responsiveness to the sneaker. Skechers Arch fit, on the other hand, is named for a purpose. It’s orthotic-friendly and comfortable for all-day usage, whereas the Nike Air Max 270 isn’t.
The Skechers Arch Fit pull-on features a bungee-laced front in a synthetic, breathable mesh top, which is combined with the Arch Fit® insole to make it more lightweight and cushioned.
The Nike Air Max 270 retains the brand’s signature toughness, and the tongue is snug and fitted. However, they are more costly than Skechers while being lighter.
Nike Air Max 270 | Skechers Arch Fit
Price | $160. | $95. |
Weight | 250 g to 300 g. | 12 oz. (340.194 g). |
Pros | Lightweight. Durable. Sockless feel. Comfortable. Extremely airy and true to size. Flexible. Elegant style. There are numerous color options offered. | Flat-foot arch support. A Platform that is stable and solid. Smooth heel-to-toe transitions. Soft feet. Perfect suit. High-quality. Durable. Lightweight. Breathable. Exceptional momentum. Washable in the washing machine. |
Cons | Not suitable for all-day wear. The heel height needs to be adjusted. | Plastic at the heel tears the epidermis. Squeaky sounds can be heard while walking. |
The Bottomline
Skechers and Nike are synonymous in terms of origin, company name, popularity, and reputation. However, in terms of quality and price, Nike gets the lead.
In contrast, Skechers have designs and technology that are very comparable to Nike but have a larger variety and are lighter in weight. However, in some areas, Skechers is not as expensive as Nike.
